You Sunk My Battle Ship!

At the Giving Voice conference the under 40 crowd talked a lot about ways to improve the communities we each live in.  The major issues that we all seemed to face were:

  • the age gap
  • finding space in your new space
  • being a community and not just people under the same roof

We talked about these issues a lot but one very awesome suggestion, which I brought home with me, was doing fun stuff with your community.  My house decided on a monthly game night!  We played cards, I lost badly, but even so it was really nice to spend time together and, unlike some of the dinner conversations, there was no talk of nursing homes, funeral, or medications!  I think this will be a great way for us to really connect with each other!

Aww. Thats so awesome! I personally love talking about funerals and meds, but I could see how that may not be a main-stream talking point.
