Tom Shadyac, the director of Ave Ventura and Bruce Almighty, went around the world to speak with today’s great minds in the fields of science, literature, and religion. He wanted to ask what was wrong with our “story”, you know that story we have all heard which teaches us that there is such a thing as an “us” and a “them”, that more stuff will make you happier, that we are all separate in one way or another. What Tom found surprised him: we are not separate at all. We are in fact connected in so many ways that our moods can affect the things and people around us. Science is just beginning to discover all of the intricate and minute ways that we are designed to be connected with each other and with our whole environment.
Tom, references a very short article that G.K. Chesterton, an English writer, submitted to a periodical which read as follows:
“Dear Sir: Regarding your article ‘What’s Wrong with the World?’ I am. Yours truly,”
― G.K. Chesterton
We can be the problem, but we are also the answer and it is easily possible that just one person can change the world.
